Longtime Phantoms dman John Slaney will be playing in Germany this year.  He really scored some big goals against us over the years.  Must be a real log jam at the dman position in the Flyers organization.

The Flyers are doing some serious retooling after having a bad couple of seasons... I think they just didn't prepare well for the "new" AHL... Slaney must've gotten some good money to go over there... I have to believe that a guy like that would be a plus for any young team to have around for a variety of reasons, including ours...

The Flyers kept Slaney around for a while so he could be veteran leadership for the young players on the Phantoms. Boyd Kane (who most Phantoms fans hate) is taking that role over. The Flyers also have too many d-men in the organization.

Slaney is a huge loss to the Phantoms. He is a hard nosed player. Who can be just as classy as he is talented. A true leader.

Despite whatever garbage was going on around him, I thought Slaney was always a class act.  The Pantoms will miss him.

Agreed.  He was/is a class act all the way.  I hope he is earning a big paycheck in the DEL.
