The Cup is irrelevant. The thing that will make me totally 100% happy with the post-season is making it past the 1st round. Smiley

Okay, I aplogize in advance for the language and if it appears I have my fanvision on, but the WBS fans can kiss my ass.  All I have read from that side is wah, wah, wah, 7 Admiral Power Plays, wah, wah, wah.  All the penalties given to WBS were well deserved penalty AND the F'n Penguins had more puck possession on the Ads PPs more than the damn Admirals did.  And then the stick breaking on the Penguins player on Barberios goal... cry me an F'n River, how many times has that happened to someone.  Dont try to blame it on the other player when you lean into hard on a faceoff, thats life, get over it.  I have read that the refs calling the games only call Charlotte and Norfolk games so yeah they are going to favor the Admirals trying to keep the streak going... once again, total BS.  Oh Oh and then the lack of calls on the Admirals, I have asked 4 WBS fans, what did the refs miss on the Admirals?  Give me an exact scenario where the Admirals should have been given a penalty and wasn't and they all go, umm, hmm, umm.  The Admirals have taken alot more penalties than WBS by almost 200 over the season, so they can kiss my ass when bitching about the lack of calls and how the Admirals are the AHL's Golden child right now... The Admirals have earned it, year after year, the Admirals get the short end of the stick because we are an untraditional market.  Often its the Bears that are carrying the torch, and then last year for 90% of the year, it was the Penguins....  The Admirals have had WBS's number this year, get over it, move on.

Then my favorite rantings about all this from WBS fans is that just because we are number one and we are on this great win streak that we can't start making plans for the Calder Cup parade just yet and to look at WBS last year, number 1 all year and out in the 2nd (truthfully they would have been out in the first if it wasn't for call ups and injuries to us).... what are we supposed to do, be like, oh great we made the playoffs, we have the number one team, we just clinched our division and conference for the first time and we are on the way to clinching the league, okay lets settle for that... Screw that, I want the Calder Cup, I am planning my life around a long playoff run & winning the cup, I have delayed purchasing concert tickets in case there is a playoff game that night... Also, there is a huge difference between WBS last year and our team this year.  It's depth.  WBS had the same core of guys carrying the team almost all year, Sterling, Craig, Veillux.  Their top scorer was number 47th overall in the league, we have 4 in the top 20 this year (2 rookies, 1 that was just gone for 2 weeks with the NHL, and a defensemen).  We have every one making a difference.  Look at last night, we had Ouellet get his first goal in what, 10 games?  Then a defenseman get the game winner... this team is no comparision to what WBS had last year... its apples to oranges.

In the end, it was an ugly game.  The Admirals certainly did not look like a number 1 team that just won it's last 22, but as Scott & Ryan said, Good teams find ways to win, the Admirals got the right bounces and shots and did it.

Okay, sorry about that, rant over, heres to 24 Smiley

Best internet rant in a long, long time!

Last night I apologized to a young Pens fan for teasing him about his Crysby jersey before the game started.  I think he welled up a little so I tried to make it right.

Nevermind that he and his family went damn near loopy when the Pens scored...

I am so glad about the season long ass whipping the Admirals handed to the Pens.  IF any of the remaining teams end the streak, I will go out of this happy that it wasn't 1) Hershey, 2) WanksBerry/Skanton, 3) Charlotte.

Go boys, go!

I have the TuneIn radio app for the iPhone, so just for fun I recorded the game from the WBS station after the Barberio goal. I wish there was a way to upload the clip somewhere because it was SOOOO enjoyable to listen to Tom Grace squirm and squeal!

what file type is it? Do iPhones have bluetooth? Bluetooth it to your PC and upload it to mediafire.com or even attach some images and make it a youtube video. MUST HEAR AUDIO!

The voice on the clip sounded like Stan Verrett, who used to work in this market for WAVY and WVEC. Unfortunately I'm unable to take any clips off the TuneIn app. Sorry!

As far as the Calder Cup goes- let's not get cocky and talk about hoisting the cup, we still are aways away from that, but I am not going to sit back and just be like, oh okay, big whoop that we made the playoffs as first overall... I am excited! While I want the Cup badly and do have high hopes and expectations for this team, its nothing that the players haven't expressed themselves.  They have one goal, the Calder Cup, we are just living by the words and heart expressed by this team.

I agree with this statement word for word. While I do say that anything less than the Calder is a failure, I'm not getting all excited just yet. Is it possible the Ads can go all the way? Sure. Do we know for sure that the Ads will hoist the Cup? No. All the teams start off 0-0 when the playoffs begin. With the Ads success this season, you can't help but feel good about their chances but we need to take it one game at a time.

While all that is true, the odds are still NOT in the team's favor.  Changes of finishing first overall in the league is 1 in 30 - check (almost)!   Chances of winning the Cup are 1 in 16 (even better odds).  But the likelihood that ANY team will lie down and let the Admirals steamroll them is ZERO!  In fact, with the team's success during the season, they have great big targets on their backs now and every team they play is going to try their best to beat the Admirals.

Can they do it?  I believe this is the best Norfolk Admirals team we've ever seen, but they will need to show even more resolve and hard work than they showed last night because the competition will only get MORE intense once the play-offs start.

very true on every account, that is why although great I would not mind the streak ending before the playoffs, just to have maybe that bad roll or bad bounce, or garbage goal etc..happen now instead of in a very vital playoff situation that means more than the last game of the season or not...
